Train Ticket

The railway station in Cranleigh opened less than a week after the School itself in 1865; the construction of the Guildford to Horsham line was a key factor in deciding on the location of the school and it remained in use until its closure four months short of its centenary in 1965.

The line was the only one in Surrey to fall victim to the Beeching cuts. Until the spread of the motor car, most boys travelled to and from School by railway and special trains were put on at the beginning and end of terms to cope with the traffic.  This ticket dates from the 1950s by which time the line was far less used.
